VERA SAMUEL

Vera Samuel is an artist who uses the art form of Transfer Printing, to print images onto paper. She believes that image transferring has a lot to offer and going forward, transfer printing will be the source of all her artistic endeavors. In February 2023 she visited Lahore, Pakistan (where she was born.) Being back home inspired her to bring her culture into her art and not allow her cultural roots to die. She enjoyed photography and transfer printed a lot of her own work as a photographer. Including culture in her work was the perfect opportunity to stage a fake treasure hunt inspired by the Video Game series Uncharted. The two games of the series she took inspiration from were Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: Lost Legacy. It was a brilliant way to combine culture, gaming and her art practice of photography and transfer printing. Vera notably likes including a personal element in the works that she creates. For her Degree Show final piece she paid respect to her late friend and her late grandmother. She found it the perfect way to continue her grandmother’s legacy of women working hard to strive for what they believe in.
